| On April 17, 2008 the City of Long Beach in cooperation with the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach hosted the 3rd annual Motorsports Walk of Fame, which honors motorsports legends from throughout the world. In the previous years, honorees included: Dan Gurney, Phill hill, Brian Redman, the Newman/Hass racing team and Chris Pook, the founder of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. |
| The 2008 honorees included some of racing's greatest names: Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones and Gary Gabelich. The event, which is held during Grand Prix week, is designed to enhance the city's ties to motorsports and specifically to the Grand Prix, which conducted its 34th race this year. |
